Founded in 1961 with the stated intention "........to present productions of a high standard which members and audiences will enjoy", St. Patrick's Dramatic Society is now the most senior dramatic society in Dalkey and one of the oldest in the country. Since that very first show in 1961 members of the St. Patrick's Dramatic Society have never been happier than when they're doing just that … dramatising!

The curtain goes up on each new season in early September and comes down at the a.g.m. the following May. During that time, the Society will have staged two full-length and at least three one-act plays, including: -
AUTUMN PRODUCTION... auditions are held for this full-length production in early September (because of the significance of our forthcoming production of 'A Life', this year's auditions will take place in May) and the play is staged in the Town Hall, Dalkey in November.

ALL IRELAND ONE ACT COMPETITION... this one act play is also cast in early September, with the play competing in five different festivals around the country and hopefully going on to the national finals in early December.

BRAY ONE ACT FESTIVAL... auditions are held in early December for this one act play, which will be staged at an In House night and at the Bray One Act Festival, both in January.

IN HOUSE NIGHT... a second one act play is staged at this event in January, also auditioned in early December.

SPRING PRODUCTION... another full length production, which is staged in the Town Hall, Dalkey in April, with auditions in late January.

As if that's not enough, members have to endure the rigours of Christmas parties, barbeques, treasure hunts, theatre outings, workshops and quiz nights. We have even gone to sea on a few occasions.
